Service
Hood and exhaust system cleaning
From the hood over your cookline to the fan on the roof. Our crews clean the accessible parts of the whole grease-exhaust system, overnight, after you close.
What gets cleaned
The whole system, not just the hood
A standard cleaning covers the accessible parts of the entire system, down to bare metal. It is not a wipe of the hood surface.
Hood canopy
The canopy over your cookline, where grease-laden air is pulled off the equipment.
Grease filters
The metal baffle filters inside the hood. They are the first thing the exhaust passes through.
Plenum
The chamber behind the filters. Grease that gets past the filters collects here before it reaches the duct.
Accessible ductwork
The duct runs that carry exhaust from the hood to the roof, cleaned wherever they can be reached.
Rooftop exhaust fan
The fan that pulls air through the whole system and discharges it at the roof.
Number 6 in the illustration is the oven. See pizza oven cleaning. Coil preventative maintenance is a separate, optional add-on (see below).
Ductwork
What “accessible ductwork” means
Ductwork can only be cleaned where a crew can physically reach it: from the hood, from the fan opening on the roof, and through access panels in the duct.
Some buildings have duct sections that are enclosed, run a long distance, or have no access panel. A section with no access point cannot be cleaned until access exists, so we do not promise that every concealed section of every system will be reached.
If you know your duct run is long or has hard-to-reach sections, say so in your request. The office will talk through your system when confirming the scope.
Useful to include in your request
- How many hoods you have, and roughly how large they are
- Roughly when the system was last cleaned
- Whether the duct has access panels, if you know
- Anything unusual about the roof or the fan
How often
Cleaning on a recurring schedule
Grease builds up along the whole path as you cook, so exhaust cleaning is recurring work, not a one-time job. We set up service every 3, 6, or 12 months.
Recurring cleaning, every
Which schedule applies depends on your kitchen and what your local fire code requires. If your insurer or franchise has given you a schedule, include it in your request.
What to expect
Before, during, and after
Access is arranged ahead
Crews arrive after your restaurant closes, so keys or other after-hours access are arranged with the office in advance.
The crew works overnight
The hood, grease filters, plenum, accessible ductwork, and rooftop fan are cleaned while your kitchen is closed.
Invoiced at time of service
Service is invoiced at the time of service. Pricing is confirmed with the office before the work is scheduled.
Optional add-on
Coil preventative maintenance
Coil cleaning for your refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, done on the same visit as your hood cleaning. It is an extra, not part of a standard cleaning.
- Covers condensers and AC units, walk-ins, sauce fridges, and make-line refrigeration
- Done on the same overnight visit as your hood cleaning
- Coils cleaned with a commercial-grade chemical made for coil cleaning
- Preventative by design: the aim is to deal with buildup before it turns into a serious problem
- If a unit looks damaged or may need repair, we let you know
Tick the coil add-on in your request and the office will confirm what it covers for your equipment.
Questions
Hood and exhaust cleaning
Does the cleaning include the roof fan and the ductwork?
Yes. A standard cleaning includes the rooftop exhaust fan and the accessible ductwork, not just the hood.
Can every part of my ductwork be cleaned?
Ductwork is cleaned wherever it can be reached. A section with no access point cannot be cleaned until access exists. The office will talk through your system when confirming the scope.
What is the coil preventative maintenance add-on?
It is an optional extra, not part of a standard cleaning, done on the same visit as your hood cleaning. We clean the coils on your condensers and AC units, walk-ins, sauce fridges, and make-line refrigeration with a commercial-grade chemical made for coil cleaning. The aim is preventative: dealing with buildup before it turns into a serious problem. If a unit looks damaged or may need repair, we let you know. Ask for it in your request and the office will confirm the scope.
Does someone from the restaurant need to be there?
Crews work after closing, so keys or other after-hours access are arranged with the office in advance.
How is the work priced?
The office confirms pricing after reviewing your details: the number and rough size of your hoods, the number of ovens, roughly when the system was last cleaned, where the location is, and how many locations you operate.
